From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. A delegation of about 18 members and staff from the Washington Farm Bureau just returned from Puerto Rico where the American Farm Bureau Federation just held their Annual Convention.

First Vice President, Bridget Coon says the Washington Farm Bureau was well represented …

COON … “But we also had a competitor, Kady Porterfield from Kittitas County competed in the Young Farmers and Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture program which is a competition that I took part in the last convention I was at in 2019 in New Orleans.

The competition, Coon says plays out on a couple of different levels …

COON … “The competition is in a couple of parts. There’s a written portion that Kady submitted before the event, and then she had to give a presentation live when we got to Puerto Rico.”

And, Coon says Porterfield did very well in the competition …

COON … “She did wonderful. She actually placed in the top ten of competitors and so that had her giving her presentation a second time. And then she was able to go out and represent Washington on the big stage during general session where the winners were announced. The top three or four contestants actually get some pretty phenomenal from sponsors like Ford and Case I-H.”

Coon says the Farm Bureau is proud of Porterfield’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing how she continues to contribute.
