It's titled "Biodiesel, from field to fuel" That's the name of the June 15th workshop to be held at the Coeur d'Alene Resort by leading biofuels researchers from the University of Idaho.
VAN GERPIN "But it's really targeted primarily at those people who have already made the decision that they want to get into biodiesel in some way whether its growing the feedstock or processing it or actually operating a biodiesel plant."
U of I's Jon Van Gerpin is one of the experts who will be talking about growing oilseeds in Idaho and the Northwest, processing oilseeds, biodiesel production and economics and co-products that are part of the process.
VAN GERPIN "The real obstacle right now is going to be can we grow enough oilseeds to meet the demand. It limits the amount of biodiesel that we can produce but it may put farmers in a very good position because there's going to be a lot of demand for oilseed crops."
Area farmers, state governmental agencies from Idaho and Washington, biodiesel production plant developers and various grain growers associations are among the registrants who will learn more about biodiesel production.
