05/12/06 Take Jake to school

He's a Capitol High School graduate who guided the Denver Broncos to the AFC title game last year. Now Jake Plummer is coming back to his home state today to take part in an elementary school assembly. The United Dairymen of Idaho have a partnership with the National Football League to promote healthy foods and diets. UDI's Cheri Story says they approached Plummer and he agreed to be the 'grand prize' last year in a contest at Wal-Mart stores. JAKE "Judy Trembler from Pocatello was the winner and Jake is going to visit Jefferson Elementary in Pocatello and attend a school assembly with the kids." In fact they expect the entire student body to turn out for today's assembly which has been moved to an outdoor amphitheater. Storey says the purpose behind Plummer's visit and the contest itself is to promote better eating habits for Idaho youngsters. STOREY "Seven out of ten boys and nine out of ten girls are not getting enough calcium in their diet. In fact the surgeon general released a report on bone health suggesting that the recent rise in bone diseases is because of the decline in nutritional quality of American's diets so children are at greater risk today of growing up to be adults with osteoporosis."
