Miss on a bull elk

Christian Quested and his hunting buddy Nathan had a gorgeous bull elk lined up, Christians got him in the sights of his gun, pulls the trigger and David Sparks sportsman spotlight. I mean, that's just right on five 75. No crosswind put it right on the crease behind the front quarter and boom, and a shot that long takes two, two and a half seconds before it would hit him. So you hear your gun go off and it's one one thousand two one thousand three, right? The animal doesn't move. Don't hear a thump or a whack or nothing. And I was like, Nathan, what happened? And he's like, put another round on it. And I said, I don't know. He's like, You hit it. And I said, I didn't hit it, and I said, I'm really confused why I didn't hit it. But and then all of a sudden he turns his head real quick and just bolts, and I never saw him again. And so we start debating what happened because I was extremely disappointed. I don't want to sound arrogant. I don't miss that was an easy shot at practice that shot a lot, and I had broken my collarbone a couple of months before this. And so I mean, getting around wasn't like as easy as normal, and he's like, We better get over there and look, because I think you hit him and I said, I didn't hit him. I mean, I know this gun, this bullet, if I had a bad shot and hit him in the quarter, they look like they get hit like by a bolt of lightning and they take off if you hit them in the vitals, they expire. But I said didn't do anything, and I said, I don't know. Maybe it was a bad round. It was something because he never saw that elk again.
