Wander Walla Walla Pt 1
With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. Autumn is here and if you’re a wine lover looking for something fun to do, Wander Walla Walla might be the weekend adventure for you.Walla Walla Valley Wine Executive Director, Robert Hansen says the valley is beautiful this time of year and the itineraries have some of our best kept secrets …
HANSEN … “We have eight curated itineraries from winemakers around the valley. You know, a lot of different things to do. We have an outside Walla Walla day date itinerary, local food and wine adventures, what’s new in Walla Walla, and what’s old in Walla Walla, eclectic-type itineraries.”
Hansen says the varied itineraries are put together by different winemakers every year …
HANSEN … “Just a lot of creativity and it’s great that the winemakers actually want to get involved with this. We announced that we’re doing it and we don’t beg or ask specific winemakers to participate. They all volunteer and they all volunteer very graciously. So, it’s really fun to get them involved. It seems like every year we have a new group of winemakers doing itineraries for us, so it’s a lot of fun.”
Hansen says it’s great for the first timers OR for those initiated to the Walla Walla wine scene …
HANSEN … “I think locals do enjoy it. I have two friends coming to town that have come here over and over, and they’re coming here this week, and they wanted to know what to do that’s exciting and I just turned them on to these pages and now they’re fighting over which itineraries they want to do, so it’s a lot of fun.”
