For California AG today, I'm Mike Stephens, wine grape harvest season is in full swing. Michael Miller, Director of Government. Relations for the California Association of Wine Grape Growers, he took time to talk about this season's harvest. California Association of Wine Grape Growers began more than 40 years ago when a small group of wine grape growers concerned about establishing fair prices for grapes established the Wine Grape Bargaining Association. Until then, wine grape growers didn't have a statewide organization to focus exclusively on their issues like other specialty crops. Their mission is that the California Association of Wine Grape Growers protects and promotes the interest of California wine. Grape growers are providing members a unified voice advocacy and strong leadership. The vision is that the California Association of Wine Grape Growers promotes the wine growing industry's long term success by advancing the adoption of sound public policies, fostering awareness and understanding the wine grape growers contributions to the economy environment. California's communities.

So the California Association of Wine Grape Growers, we represent growers all over California, and pretty much the entire state is at some stage of harvest by now.

Geography determines the type of grape harvest it.

It really depends on the geographic area. Typically, whites are harvested earlier, the reds later. But it just depends on the wine region, and it depends on the varietal for what they're harvesting at this point in time. Most of the whites should now be harvested, and they're they're into the reds.
