Ag Fairs Rescue Act

I’m Bob Larson. A bill has made it through the House Agricultural Committee on a unanimous voice vote, called the Agricultural Fairs Rescue Act.

The sponsor of that bill, U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says our county fairs across the nation bring folks together … along with an agricultural flavor …

NEWHOUSE … “You know, fairs are, they are really an important part of the fabric of rural communities. They bring the City Slicker and their Country Cousins at the County Fair. It’s a great opportunity for people to really understand the importance the agricultural industry and make that connection.”

And after what we’ve all been through the past two years, Newhouse says the fairs need our help …

NEWHOUSE … “And so, this is an effort to provide some relief to these fairs so they can continue to go and they can continue to provide that really important link that we have to continue to help educate people as to the importance of our agricultural industry.”

The agricultural fairs, Newhouse says serve everyone regardless of where you live …

NEWHOUSE … “So that’s why I think this is important, plus it’s a, you know, it’s one of those things that, like I said, it’s not only an educational opportunity, but it’s something that people really look forward to every year and it’s an important part of community life.”

Newhouse says he thinks the bill will continue to get plenty of support as it goes through the legislative process.
