BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. And, sitting in for Allison Walston today is another great Valent Crew Member Travis Schoenwald. And this week Travis, you’re teaching us about adjuvants and surfactants.

TS: Surfactants and Adjuvants enhance the effectiveness of a treatment. There are some important things to consider when using a horticultural mineral oil, organosilicone or non-ionic surfactant.

BL: And so if I’m understanding you, the main consideration here is to lower the rate when temperatures get above say, 85F?

TS: Yes, for almost all of them. Horticultural mineral oils are great! They can help control insects, mites and disease as well as enhance efficacy of organic and conventional pesticides.

Organosilicone surfactants can be very helpful in improving product uptake and penetration such as ReTain. Proceed with caution with OSis.

BL: Well, thanks for the pinch-hitting duty again Travis. Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
