I’m Bob Larson. The warm weather seen ,

University of Washington atmospheric sciences professor, Cliff Mass says we’re in for historical highs in many areas …

MASS … “I mean, getting over 100 is, you know, it’s not such a big deal in Eastern Washington, but around here it is. So, it’s going to be pretty scary. It really will be.”

And the peak, Mass says should hit us by Monday …

MASS … “So, right now it looks like Monday is going to be the warmest day, for us. So, the interior western side for Oregon and Washington, it really looks like Monday is going to be the worst day.”

But, Mass says Portland should see much higher temps than most people in Western Washington …

MASS … “Yeah, it’s going to be much, much worse down there. And, there’s more air conditioning down in the Willamette Valley, fortunately, because their summers are considerable warmer than Puget Sound, so, because their isolated from the water.”

As for when we can expect some relief, Mass says …

MASS … “It looks like it cools down Tuesday, but it’s going to stay pretty warm for a few more days. It’s pretty persistent, but it’s going to take the edge off. I mean, it’ll seem cool on Tuesday compared to Monday.”

Tune in Monday for more on the heat wave and why it has very little to do with global warming.
