BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A. And this week, we get to meet another great Valent employee in Travis Schoenwald. First of all, welcome to Fruit Bites Travis! What’s your role at Valent?

TS: I’m a Sustainable Solutions Specialist at Valent, working in the field with growers & consultants, helping find solutions to make them more sustainable and successful. I consider myself a hybrid of researcher, salesperson and grower, searching for solutions.

BL: So, what has been your primary area of focus since starting with Valent?

TS: mostly our PGRs. They have been the most fun because there are so many things to discover; what they do & the unknown possibilities.

BL: Do you have a farming background?

TS: My grandfather & dad were orchardists growing apples & cherries. Now, I have my own farm. Before Valent, I was part of the field staff for a large family orchard operation for 14 years and a private crop consultant before that. I just transitioned to Valent a little over a year ago.

BL: Favorite part about living and working in the PNW?

TS: the seasons, spring & fall, but probably fall because of the culmination of harvest, beautiful warm days, crisp nights & labors of love coming to fruition.

BL: Allison & I discuss this routinely, so what’s your favorite fruit & insect pest?

TS:

BL: Good stuff Travis, thanks! Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
