BL: Welcome back to another “Fruit Bites” brought to you by Valent U.S.A., and back with us for another season is Valent’s Allison Walston. And this week Allison, we are kicking off Season 5!

AW: Can you believe it? On this season of Fruit Bites, we are going to discuss topics like: insects, insect control, mites…

BL: Well, we might need a few more topics than that …

AW: ok, ok. Topics from thinning fruit, celebrating national pollinator week, announcing the apple grower of the year and interviewing guests to get updates from the field and more insight into upcoming new chemistries.

BL: And, speaking of updates from the field, what’s happening out there …

AW: We’ve had some pretty cold mornings, so frost fans have been running to protect all that new green tissue. A grower friend in Wenatchee told me how they used water to freeze around the fruit buds to protect. It’s also time to think about your first powdery mildew sprays as we get near green tip and pink in apples. Overwintering powdery mildew is ready to attack all that freshly emerging tissue.

BL: Well, that’s great Allison. Join us again next time for Fruit Bites, brought to you by Valent. Until then, I’m Bob Larson.
