Auction of Washington Wines 2021 Pt 2
With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. We may not be post-pandemic yet, but some things are beginning to look a little more “normal,” like the 2021 Auction of Washington Wines which will be holding both virtual and in-person events. The Auction’s Executive Director, Jaime Peha says following April’s Private Barrel Auction, comes Wine & Music Week in May …
PEHA … “It kicks off with an online auction with, you know, a hundred to 120 auction items, all wine-related, from May 18th through May 23rd, so it goes on for a week. But, tipping off the music part of that on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 18th-19th-20th, we have an evening, virtual, tune-in concerts and music performances.”
May, Peha says also includes a pair of Winemaker Dinners in Eastern Washington …
PEHA … “So, there will be an opportunity for people to attend the live events. They’ll be very small and socially distanced, according to regulations, but it does give us that Eastern Washington presence and really gives people an opportunity for a full week of celebration.”
Most of those proceeds, Peha says go to the Industry Grant Program …
PEHA … “Wine and Music will be raising funds specifically for that. It also does contribute some of the funds to Washington State University, so it’s really another real industry serving the industry event.”
