Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know, my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. I simply do not waste my time drinking wine that I do not like. That was certainly the case this evening when I found my new favorite wine.
Okay so it's 9:30 and I just got home from my WWOW group that's WWOW - Wild Women on Wine. Each month we get together to learn something about wine and this evening the guys from Ash Hollow Estate Vineyards and Winery were the guests. The event was held at a local restaurant called Olympic Blue (formerly Chez Chaz) and the food was to die for. I have a question for you why do people in the Tri-Cities or anywhere else for that matter - spend so much time in chain restaurants? Well that is a story for another time. So wer tasting through these wines listening to the stories and then it happened I picked up the glass and smelled Merlot, not oak with undertones of Merlot but real Merlot. However, something about it was still different, it was meaty and roasted - very savory. This wine is well layered in fragrance and texture it is elaborate in some respects but it is restrained in others. It was truly a crowd pleaser. All of the girls enjoyed it. Maybe it was the great food maybe it was the conviviality who know knows but I recommend you find a bottle of Ash Hollow 2003 Merlot and try it out for yourself. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
