It’s time for your Farm of the Future Report. I’m Tim Hammerich.

The agtech industry continues to grow, but the founders of many of these startups are still predominantly male. Of the top 20 largest agrifoodtech financings last year, only two have women co-founders.

A group recently compiled a searchable database of women founders and leaders in agtech. Amy Wu is part of that group, and sees this as a way to make women’s voices more accessible in the industry.

Wu…. “Within the last six months, I'd say, we organically found out we each were keeping like a list of women who work in ag tech. So we came together. We said, we're all keeping our own lists. Why don't we combine forces and have one big directory so that people can search for and connect with women in ag tech and an ag bio.”

The list is available both on the AgFunder website and the Farms to Incubators website. It’s an active database, open to anyone to submit new entries.

Wu… “If people think of a woman who should be on the list, there's a link right there where it's a real short survey and they just have to fill out their name and their email. And then from there, it's submitted and then we can get the name of the woman on the list.”

Wu and others hope that conference organizers will find it and consider adding more women as speakers, that investors and VC firms will find the list and take a deep dive into the companies, and growers will connect with founders through this portal.
