Taste Washington Wine Month Pt 2
With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. March is here and that means that it’s Taste Washington Wine Month. But this year’s month-long Washington wine celebration looks a bit different than in the past, with everything being held online, virtually.
The Washington State Wine Commission’s Averyl Mooney says it’s something that more people can take part in than ever before …
MOONEY … “Again, wineries and restaurants across the entire state, no matter where they are, can participate and they have the opportunity to participate on a weekly level, on a monthly activation, or, of course, the best of both worlds, they can do both.”
And, Mooney says the hits just keep coming …
MOONEY … “So, in place of the in-person, ticketed events we’ve introduced Taste Washington To-Go and Taste Washington At Home, which are two weekly activations that include wineries and restaurants. And, they have varying themes that happen on a weekly basis.”
And don’t forget, Mooney says, all the specials …
MOONEY … “Additionally, wineries and restaurants are able to offer special promotions, kind of just driving traffic on site. So, getting people to go pick up food from restaurants and go into the tasting rooms. They’re offering month-long specials like waiving the tasting fees or actual tasing lineups, bottle discounts, thing like that. They’re just clever, creative promotions throughout the month to drive traffic back to the wineries.”
