Taste Washington Wine Month Pt 1

With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. It’s not the same kind of month that Washington wine lovers have come to expect in March year after year, but Taste Washington Wine Month is still on!

Washington State Wine Commission’s Averyl Mooney says yes indeed, March is here and so is Taste Washington …

MOONEY … “Taste Washington, 2021 is very much still a thing. It is happening, but it will look slightly different. There are no in-person events and no ticketed events, so, kind of a huge pivot from what everybody is familiar with.”

Mooney says a big part of that pivot means we won’t all be gathering in Seattle for the big week-long celebration …

MOONEY … “But this year we are just bringing it back local. So, wineries and restaurants across the entire state can participate from where ever they are and engage with their local communities.”

So, it’s got a ‘support local’ flair to it this year? …

MOONEY … “It’s a true statement for so many industries lately, but now more than ever. If this last year has taught us anything it’s that supporting local and local engagement is everything. So, we need to be supporting restaurants, supporting wineries, and supporting our hotels.”

That, Mooney says is key during these challenging times …

MOONEY … “The Taste Washington event, we want to give awareness to all of those partners across the industries and we’re using Taste Washington as the full month of March now to connect consumers directly to the entire industry.”

Tune in tomorrow for more … on 2021’s Taste Washington Wine Month.
