Baugh about BSE
Finally I believe consumers are becoming a little savvier and a little less venerable to press sensationalism. I have noticed this trend especially when it comes to BSE, better known as Mad Cow. The latest report March 13 of an aging bovine with BSE in Alabama didn't stop Americans from buying beef, beef sales remained high. Some annalists are attributing this to the fact that the infected cow was older and the animal never entered the food chain, irregardless the network news tried in vein to trump up fear over BSE, a disease that has never killed a soul in the US and Americans just weren't buying. Ironically the BSE report came only 5 days after Dana Reeves at age 44 lost her courageous battle against lung cancer and in my non-professional opinion I believe we are weary of wasting precious moments on irrational fears like BSE and Bird Flu when we are loosing so many of our loved ones to cancers, diabetes and heart disease.
