The theme of an AG Bankers Conference focused on the power of partnership. A banker and member of ABA Agricultural & Rural Bankers Committee says bankers place a high value on producers who can ramp up their business skills.

“They have adopted the technology on the production side and they're really good at the production side of the farm operation and they leverage everything that the agronomists has been thrown at them in terms of yield monitors and and in ways that they can apply seed in a really efficient way or chemical and fertilizer in real efficient way. And this is just the next evolution of that. And now it's on the business side of their farm and their their Gen X or millennial family members that are coming back to the farm and wanting to two beyond the farm. They desire that kind of data, that kind of technology, that kind of understanding. And so I think it's helping accelerate it, because a lot of the baby boomers, when they grew up, it wasn't as important as it is today. But as farms get bigger and the cost of farming gets larger, that's not only the cost of all the equipment, but the cost of land and cash, rent and all the inputs. It's really important that the farmers have have someone in their farm operation. That's really good.” So the ones that partner best are surviving the best, not by accident.
