The December Agricultural Production Survey is underway in Colorado.

Bill Meyer, Director of the National Ag Statistics Service Mountain Region Office is asking producers to participate.

MEYER; ”This is a survey where we’re going to get our final acreage yield and production for late-season crops like corn, sorghum, dry beans, sunflowers, and our hay. We’ll be contacting about 1500 producers across the state. Everybody should have received their surveys in the mail. A quick way to do it is to do it online with a very secure online reporting tool we have. Otherwise, you can mail it back to us or if you prefer, we’ll give you a call. Like I say, it’ll be going on the first two weeks of the month. The release will be coming out in our annual crop report which will be released about the second week of January. In addition to the acreage yield and production for the late-season crops, we’ll also be collecting information on our grain stocks across the area.”

And as the season comes to an end, Meyer says he wants to thanks all the farmers and ranchers who have completed the surveys in 2020. HE says the data is used extensively by farmers and ranchers by universities and policymakers and without their cooperation, they wouldn’t be able to compile and disseminate the good data that is needed.

The final survey of the year will be released in mid-January.
