02/24/06 FFA advisor visit

FFA Advisor Visit One of the visits my FFA advisor made to the ranch turned into an entertaining day for us. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to tell you the story. My FFA advisor, Mr. Heideman was very dedicated just like most vocational agriculture teachers. I remember one visit to check my project was on such a rainy day his truck wouldn't make it up our mountain-goat road. That didn't stop him he walked on up to the ranch to keep his appointment. But the most entertaining time he came to check my animals was in summer vacation when he brought his three sons Tom, Greg and Phil. As soon as my projects were checked, the boys wanted to ride horses they even said they would ride without saddles ok, then. There were two horses in the corral and three boys, so Tom and Phil rode one horse double. Since those were the days when you didn't sign liability waivers and have 15 lawyers retained, we gave the boys the standard "don't run these horses together" talk and sent them on their way. That was like telling Jeff Gordon not to drive a car fast. The pace picked up about the end of the lane on the way home. Those two horses were like gasoline and a fire the more one was poured on, the hotter the other one got. The horses made the last corner at corral and so did Greg but not Tom and Phil. They did one of the finest synchronized belly dirt slides in ranch history and finished it with a mouth and head pivot to a perfect twelve-foot back slide. We all had to score them perfect "10's." I'm Jeff Keane.
