The Colorado Wheat Growers are looking to young people to help maintain the industry and to develop new innovations for the future. The organization says it will again help offset college tuition with one thousand dollars scholarships to two ag students in the state.

The application is available at ColoradoWheat.org

Applicants will need to identify an important issue facing agriculture in our state and describe why using legislation is the best way to address the issue. Applicants will also be asked to address the issue of the aging American farmer and how he or she would recruit younger people to production agriculture

Madison Andersen, Communications Coordinator at Colorado Wheat

Andersen: “We’re an ag organization so we want to see how they want to impact agriculture in the future. What do you think we should be working as a group? That’s kind of our mission for CAWG is to be politically active and help maintain the rural lifestyle and maintain farming. Maybe we can steal some of their ideas , a different way of looking at things.”

One scholarship will go to a graduating highschool senior. The second is for a current college undergrad or grad student.

Applicant's parent, grandparent, or legal guardian must be current or new members of CAWG OR the applicant must be nominated by a current or new member of CAWG.

The deadline to apply is March 27th.
