Gold Trophy Bison Auction and Sale

The National Bison Association based in Denver is gearing up for the annual Gold Trophy Show and Sale.

It’s for professionals but it’s also an opportunity for consumers to learn more about bison as an alternative to beef.

The Association’s Karen Conley says the Gold Trophy Show and Sale is the premier bison auction in the U.S.Bison producers bring their best bison stock to the National Western Stock Show to show and sell their animals. The sale features high quality, judged breeding stock as well as top-notch production animals.

Conley “We’ll have calves, yearlings and two year olds, both male and female that are entered into the competition. They’ll start arriving on the National Western Stock Show grounds on Tuesday January 21st . Once all the animals are in and they’re penned, we do have judges that judge by class. So they’ll go through and judge a heifer class, a class of bull calves, through the different age groups. Then they’ll pick out a grand and reserve champion.”

The Gold Trophy and Sale will be held concurrently with the National Bison Association’s annual conference in Denver. The goal in 2020 for the NBA is to reach more consumers. We’ll have more on the conference in another report.
