Thousands of Coloradans will spend this Labor Day hiking, camping, boating and fishing on state and federal lands as the summer season comes to a close.

The U.S. Forest Service is among the partners in a federal online resource for families looking to enjoy federal public lands, including upcoming camping trips. Janelle Smith of the U.S. Forest Service spoke told the USDA's Rod Bain about the online resource www.recreation.gov

Just learned about a new campsite finding app called The DYRT. The app has a crowdsourcing function that lists the best campsites in the country. Top of the list is Chatfield State Park, just south of Littleton. Chatfield State Park is a 5,800-acre nature preserve and recreation area situated around the Chatfield Reservoir.

There are several fire restrictions across Colorado including in Boulder, Clear Creek, Summit and Park counties.Colorado Parks and Wildlife said their state campgrounds follow county guidelines when it comes to fire bans, and the best way to stay updated is through the Colorado Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management website.
