Isn't it interesting that the best advertising agencies with virtually every technological gismo and creative genius at their fingertips are unable to persuade us to buy more American made autos. Attempts at patriotic consumerism have failed miserably. Yet a tiny grass roots organization, Columbia Action Network has created a highly successful awareness campaign by igniting passion in thousands of US university students, over labor issues in far away Columbia. Students are boycotting Coca-cola products in droves, believing the corporation played a part in the abuse of trade unionists. The University of Michigan has ousted coke. At Lake Forest College, Yale and of course Berkeley, students are slapping stickers on their notebooks and clothing that read, Ice cold &Killer coke . Using only the internet as a political organizing tool it is amazing that teamsters and teacher unions are now joining the boycott. Meanwhile, nobody cares about the plight of our own US auto workers. Makes you think!
