Well, as usual, I am impressed by the December issue of Food & Wine Magazine. It is so full of great new recipes for the holidays. I went straight to the article touting a Foolproof Party Menu. It was inspiring and I got lots of ideas for my upcoming holiday party. I loved this party because the entire meal is designed to go with Champagne! Unfortunately many of my friends won't go for that. They simply have to have their red wine. So I moved on through the remainder of the issue wading through the ads was a feat all its own. Soon I discovered a great recipe for Cauliflower in Caper Vinaigrette. Much to my shock it was fabulous with Pinot Gris. Basically you boil the cauliflower until it is just barely tender and then you toss it in a dressing and serve it warm or at room temperature. Which is the way I found that I preferred it. A recipe for lamb chops with parsnips was amazing and I was skeptical, because of the horseradish in the recipe, but the wine choice, a Rioja, was perfect with it. Now I am certain that many of you have favorite meals that you cook every year during the holidays but this year I recommend that you find just one excuse to try some of the great recipes in the many food and wine magazines out there.
