Idaho cattle producers will converge on Sun Valley next week for their annual meeting and trade show. Idaho Cattle Association executive director Lloyd Knight says it all begins Monday November 14 with a focus on marketing and profitability.
KNIGHT "On Tuesday the 15th we'll talk a lot about a number of different policy issues. We'll start off talking about wilderness issues. We'll talk about some different conservation programs. We'll talk about some public lands litigation and some of those kinds of things Tuesday morning and look at different policies surrounding those. Tuesday afternoon we'll get updates on where things are with National ID, identification development. We'll look at what's going on with the Northwest Pilot Project which of course we are heavily involved in."
Idaho Ag Director Pat Takasugi will be on hand Tuesday to discuss proposed legislation that will restructure the Division of Animal Industries and the cattlemen will get a report on checkoff programs. Next Wednesday, the third and final day begins with the Cattlemen's College and ends with the annual membership meeting.
KNIGHT "Where our folks get that final say on what our policies and positions are for the rest of the year."
