The Risk Management Agency expects to see more Idaho producers signing up this year for AGR-Lite, the Adjusted Gross Revenue Lite insurance program. RMA regional director Dave Paul says this program started five years ago in Pennsylvania insures all of a farmer's commodities.
PAUL "Going into 2005 Washington State University and a host of others in the Northwest petitioned Pennsylvania to include them in some expansion efforts and Pennsylvania included all counties in the Pacific Northwest in the program which was approved by our board."
Paul says a 250 thousand dollar coverage limit discouraged many growers from signing up this year but for 2006 that coverage has been expanded to one million dollars. Idaho, Oregon and Washington producers can learn a lot more about AGR-Lite on Friday. That's when an Internet video conference will be held.
PAUL "November 4th from 930 to 1130 AM Pacific Time. Interested individuals could join the interactive presentation by accessing the Western Center for Risk Management education at Washington State University at their website http://westrme.wsu.edu, select Video Stream Conference."
