Potato Video School Class Winners

Potato Video School Class Winners

In December Colorado Potato Administrative Committee announced their 2017 Colorado Potatoes Video Contest and then selected their winners earlier this month. Colorado Potato Administrative Committee Assistant Director Linda Weyers said that the Education Subcommittee in the past had sponsored an essay contest but decided to take a different approach this year. She shares

Weyers: “So we thought what is a better way to do this and we came up with a video contest. We tried to keep the rules pretty simple. They just needed to tell us in their video — 30 seconds to two minutes — why fruits and vegetables were good for them and why they included Colorado potatoes in that.”

Weyers says that two winners were selected, one Elementary School and one Middle or High School. She shares more about what they won.

Meyers : “First the teacher got a $300 cash prize and the classroom got a $300 cash prize — to have a class party or get something for their classroom. Then the school got a salad bar — the potato friendly salad bar. So we were so excited and the kids were so excited when they learned they had won a salad bar for their school.”

The winners of the contest were a 5th Grade Class from Loveland, CO and a 7th Grade Class from Elbert, CO.
