The Mentor Aspect of CHAMP

Yesterday we began a conversation with Colorado Tourism Office Board of Directors member Courtney Frazier about the three-year-old program — the Cultural Heritage and Agritourism Mentorship Program or CHAMP. It is an exciting program that provides assistance to Colorado historical sites, museums and agritourism operations. Today Frazier shares more details about the mentors that participate in the program that help to make it such a valuable experience for the recipients

Frazier: "These are industry leaders within the state. These folks have a very specific knowledge and expertise in a specific area — so whether you request marketing help — you're going to get a leader in marketing. So these are just folks that know what they are doing and they want to help. So the quality of our mentors through this program is just amazing. So you really do have a wealth of resources through the program to pull upon."

The Colorado Tourism Office is want to get the word out about this program. It is a free for CHAMP recipients and the mentoring process takes three to six months. Eligible applicants must have a business plan in place and are currently be in business. Since its creation there has been 21 CHAMP recipients.

Frazier: "This program grows year after year. That is really what we are looking for is that growth and making sure that the name of this gets out there."
