Mixed Grains
This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for, Sept. 7th. We've had a mixed market in the grains, consumers getting ready for the USDA reports coming out later this week. Let's check in with Joe Vaclavik as he shares more on yesterday's grain report from the floor of the CME in Chicago.
Vaclavik "Grain markets here in Chicago mixed on Tuesday following a long Labor Day weekend. Corn market a little bit lower, soy beans a little bit higher and the wheat market a little bit lower. September is usually the month that we start to see some harvest pressure emerge in the corn and soy bean markets. We generally start to kick things off in the south and move into the heart of the corn belt by later in the month. So September, historically speaking is kind of a poor month in terms of price performance for those row crow markets. I think in a year like this, where we've got healthy carry in, healthy beginning stocks, and we've got record crops expected."
