With the Fruit Grower Report I'm Susan Allen. The new technology of photoselective anti-hail netting is simply amazing and there is a field day next Wednesday that you won't want to miss here is Tianna DuPont

Extension Specialist, with the Washington State Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center

DUPONT: Next week we are going to let folks take a look at our photoselective anti-hail netting trial. They are looking at the advantages of that netting for sunburn and reducing tree stress. For example it changes the temperature, the wind speed, and the humidity and increases the fruit quality and the pack-out

And who will be speaking:

DUPONT: Dr. Lee Kalcsits, WSU Assistant Professor of Tree Fruit Physiology; and Dr. Stefano Musacchi, WSU Endowed Chair and Associate Professor of Tree Fruit Physiology and Management are going to tell folks a little bit about the trial and give folks a chance to walk in under the netting see the fruit under the trees and all the fancy devices and measurements for themselves.

Where's it going to be held?

DUPONT The field day is McDougall and Son's Prospector Orchards, at August 17th at 10:00 until 11:30. 9472 Road U NW (west side of the road), Wenatchee, WA, (Whitetrail Rd. and Highway 28 near Quincy) there is no registration needed folks can go right in.

That will be an interesting day because you will visit a 12-acre block of Honeycrisp in the fourth leaf at McDougall and Sons orchard where researchers have installed red, blue and pearl netting.
