Pear Lil Snappers For Back-to-School Lunch Boxes.

I'm Susan Allen with Fruit Grower Report. Getting kids to opt for healthier snacks is a now "snap" with lil Snappers, the kid sized fruit program from Stemilt that just expanded it's pear side . Here is Brianna Shales from Stemilt.

SHALES: Little snappers is our award winning brand for kids size fruit. Both apples and pears are packed in little snapper pouch bags which our convenient grab- and- go item that parents can pick up and easily use to pack kids lunches throughout the week. The pear program has been around for a few years now and it's recently expanded to include two new varieties. Tosca which is a summer pear variety that is being harvested right now and will only be available for a short time we usually sell out by October. The other one is Concorde which is harvested in September and has a little longer seasonality through February. So we are excited about that. We have also expanded the line to include organic pears which are very difficult for our growers to farm but something that Stemilt is passionate about having grown organics since 1989 and so we have all the pear varieties that we offer as an organic option and it comes in a 2lb bag so that the purchase size matches a retail price that consumers can actually afford.
