I'm Susan Allen. Bayer honors both the bee keeper and the producer. You have another two weeks left for nominations for the fourth annual Bayer Crop Science Bee Care Community Leadership Award. That award celebrates partnerships that are protecting and promoting pollinators. The deadline for submission is Aug. 19th.

Becky Langer is the Project Manager for the North America Bayer Bee Care Program.

LANGER:In this award we provide $6000 to the grant winners and this can be used in support of their community partnership which is demonstrating how the bee keeper and the grower are working together to protect those pollinators'. Prevous years we have focused solely on the bee keepers.

Bayer Recognizes it's a partnership

LANGER: We want to make sure we recognize the growers that are also working with those bee keepers to harness the excitement and energy around pollinator sand their communities.

Tell us about the contest

LANGER: Any bee keeper or grower that are partnered together have the opportunity to apply for the award and describe how they are promoting bee health in their community. Those interested in applying for the award can obtain an application if they visit beehealth.bayer.us. A panel of three judges including myself will consider any applications that are submitted and the decision will be based on a description of the cooperative project that have submitted, the quality of answer to some questions regarding bee health and then a letter of reference that they submit in support of their application.

Remember if you want to honor those growers and beekeepers that work so well together the deadline is August 19th.
