Conservationism-

Conservationism-

The word on the streets is that environmentalism is dead, issues like global warming, the Artic National Wildlife Refuge and urban sprawl simply failed to resonate with the average Joe. I don't believe environmentalism has died; I would like to think the movement is morphing, like the rest of society, to a more compassionate center. Today the buzz is "conservationism" and folks like Courtney White of the Quivira Coalition work to heal the past wounds of toxic environmental rhetoric. His national movement unites ecological stewardship with robust economics by teaching ranchers how to run cattle sustainability on public rangelands. The Quivira Coalition coined the term "rest" rotation grazing and counts among its success's restoring grass on an old mine site in northern New Mexico by utilizing cattle for the poop and stomp operation. If extreme environmentalism is dead, I for one will not mourn or miss it's passing, and I will herald the new conservation movement that include the welfare of people in their equations.
