09/20/05 Idaho Potato Commission has new logo

Blue ribbons always signify the best, first place in ag competition. Picking up on that theme Idaho Potato Commission now has a new blue oval label and right in the middle in big white letters is the word Idaho. MUIR "It is not mandatory for Idaho shippers to use. It's simply an option but an option that we think will benefit both them and consumers to help them identify Idaho potatoes." Frank Muir is president of the potato commission but he's still waiting for a shipper to step up and use the label which was unveiled earlier this month. MUIR "In addition on the front we have a burst on a ribbon that identifies some of the key nutritional benefits of potatoes. On the backside which is a white color with blue and gold trim we have some very specific' sell copy' if you will explaining why Idaho is so unique both for its climate and the environment in which potatoes are grown and we also spell out more of the specifics on the benefits of Idaho potatoes." The commission wants to make sure consumers know they're buying Idaho potatoes, something they say they prefer. Muir says they can and will prevent shippers from using the label if consumers complain about quality. Today's Idaho Ag News Bill Scott
