Jeff's Poem and Information
Today on "The American Rancher", I have some almost-cowboy poetry. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be right back with that and some information.
Over the last several weeks I've read some ranch and cowboy poetry to see how it would fit the program and I've really enjoyed reading the poems, telling the poem's history, and a little about the writers. If you have some poetry that fits "The American Rancher" theme and would like to have it read on the radio, I'd like to hear from you. After today's poem I'll have information how you can submit a poem. Well, I wrote today's poem. Now, I've only written two poemsone was bad, and the other one was bad too, so I chose the other one.
"When the Riding is Done"
When the riding is done And the stories are told
They won't be of treasures Not silver nor gold
Riders will tell of horses And cows and men they've known
Good ones and tough ones Black ones, Red, White, and Roan
Memories will flow And stretched truth will be heard
Exclamations will be used And maybe one cuss word
So remember the good ones are worthy You've left your mark and won
Because you'll be talked about When the riding is done
You know, if I had written one poem even like that one in my required 9th grade poetry class I might not have been moved to the first row, front desk with a promise my next move would be out the door. Anyway, if you would like to have some of your favorite ranch or cowboy poetry on the program, you can look at the guidelines at HYPERLINK "mailto:jkeane@aginfo.net" jkeane@aginfo.net or aginfo.com. I'm Jeff Keane.
