Regional Weekly Hay Report

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week
Sanders: “This week we had 3750 tons of hay trade. Compared to last Friday, all grades of hay — domestic and export alfalfa — were steady. Alfalfa mid-squares premium for export sold for $140. Small squares premium export hay sold from $150. Timothy grass small squares premium for the retail/stable market sold for $260.”

Utility to fair mid-squares of alfalfa tarped sold for $85 per ton. Oat mid-square bales rated good sold for $105 per ton.
In Oregon, prices trended generally steady in a very limited test. In Klamath Basin, mid-squares of fair to good alfalfa sold for $110 per ton. In Lake County Timothy grass large squares rated rated fair to good with rain damage sold for $135 per ton. In Harney County large square bales of alfalfa-orchard mix rated good to premium sold for $160 per ton. In Eastern Oregon there were no new sales confirmed.
