Centennial Ranch in Jackson County Conserved

Recently one of the oldest working ranches near North Park, Colorado has been conserved by the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust. The Rich family has owned their North Park Hereford Ranch in Jackson County’ for more than 100 years. Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust Executive Director Erik Glenn shares more details about the ranch
Glenn: “That property is approximately 1840 acres of irrigated meadows and sagebrush pasturelands in the North Park area of Colorado. Their goals for the property were really to keep it as family agriculture and build upon the conservation work of the other agricultural land owners in the area.”
Glenn explains why conservation easements should be considered when a family is looking at ways to preserve and protect their agricultural land.
Glenn: “The importance that conservation easements play as a tool for agricultural families to consider in helping them to accomplish their goals in keeping the ranch in the family and keeping the property in agriculture in the future. Conservation easements aren’t for everybody, but they are a great tool. They need to be on the table for ranching families to consider.”
