Mom of the Year!

For anyone who's been considering entering their favorite farm mom into Monsanto's Americas Farmers Mom of the Year contest, theres only one week left! Tracy Mueller, Corporate Brand Communications Manager with Monsanto explains.

MUELLER: This is going to be the seventh year. We started it as a way to celebrate women in agriculture. They're kind of the unsung heroes, they're usually the backbone of the farm operation, some in fact, are the actual farmers. They're out there and they are amazing women and we just want to give them the recognition that they deserve.

Mueller says you still have time to submit your mom.

MUELLER: Go to americasfarmers dot com, under the farm mom tab you can hit the nominate button and it's a 300 word or less essay on how she contributes to the family, to her farm , to the community and to the ag industry as a whole. We receive all the nominations and we partner with the American AgriWomen and they have the daunting task of reading through every single nomination and they narrow it down to five regional winners who each win $5000.

The public then votes for the national winner who receives an additional $5000 prize.

MUELLER: It's not too late. There's still one week left to submit nominations. You have until March 29th and even if you have nominated your favorite farm mom in the past, please do it again. It doesn't have to be your actual mom. Your sister, a friend, your daughter, someone in the community that you admire, anyone who's a farm mom and that has a passion for agriculture.
