National Western Stock Show Provides Intern Opportunities

If you aren’t in Denver at the Stock Show but are keeping tabs on how your particular breed’s show has gone, very likely if you on following via social media or National Western’s website you can thank a hard working intern for the prose and images. I caught up with one of the two interns for last week’s stock show — Cal Poly ag Communication senior Katie Roberti she shares what kept her busy during her six days with the stockshow.
Roberti: “Its been a great opportunity. We’ve been working in the livestock office. We are doing all of the media. We’ve been doing press releases, social media, writing a feature story, we are taking photos in every ring. We’ve been working in the yards and on the hill. It has been a great opportunity.”
Roberti grew up on a Northern California ranch and showed cattle in 4-H and at shows around the country but she had not attended the National Western prior to her internship. She shares more about what she has learned through the internship
Roberti: “One thing I’ve noticed since I’ve been here at the National Western is the huge marking tool for the producers when they are out there in the yards and their bulls are on display. It helps them market their sales that are coming up in the next year. That is something huge I’ve learned about how big the marketing part of this show is. In general I think my photography has gotten better since I’ve been here. Even just working on our feet we’ve been covering a lot of shows at one time — so that has been a good opportunity with multi-tasking.”
