New National Potato Council Chairman

The new National Potato Council's Chairman Idaho's Jim Tiede shares more details about the issues the NPC will be focusing on this year as the advocate organization for the economic well-belling of U.S. potato growers on federal legislative, regulatory, environmental, and trade issues.

Tiede: "It's going to be an exciting year. We've got a lot of issues on the table. We've got Waters of the U.S.issue. We've got truck weight issues. We've got increase funding for research. We've got lots on the agenda that we are going to try work towards completing in Washington D.C."

Tiede encourages members of the potato industry to come and participate in the NPC's Annual Fly-in which will happening in Washington, D.C. on February 22nd through the 25th.

Tiede: "It is so important to have boots on the ground in D.C. When you talk on your senators or representative's, and talk the them about the issues that personally affect you, what the problems are with getting a resolution to that. How it helps your local community and your local area. It is important to tell him personally how that affects you. Also not just the Congressman, but the staffers at the EPA, and the USDA, and the FDA to talk to them about some of the regulations that they put on us and how it affects you and your daily work on your farm. Please come. It helps. We love having everybody there. The more people there the better off we are."
