Wolf Kills & Less Farm Revenue

Wolf Kills & Less Farm Revenue. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

The Oregon State Police are investigating the deaths of two wolves found in close proximity to one another in the Sled Springs area. Lt. Bill Fugate with the OSP says the deaths were suspicious and they are not revealing the cause of death.

FUGATE: They discovered the wolves the week of August 24th. Right now the deaths are definitely suspicious and that's why the state police are involved conducting a criminal investigation on them. If they have any information on this Sled Spring pair, contact the state police or Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife.

One of the wolves was collared female OR-21, and the other was a male she had been observed with earlier. The two were known as the Sled Springs Pair and were newly established in the area.

Harvest season is going on in northwest. Crop yields are expected to be pretty good but overall harvest revenues may be down this year. The prices being paid for many commodities is still off considerably and that's putting a bind on many producers. There will be cutbacks for many producers and that will mean less dollars being pumped into local economies. Very much a trickle down picture. The dairy industry especially will see some problems since there is plenty of supply but the demand is down. Some producers will have to take a hard look at their plans for 2016.
