Volunteers Needed for Upcoming Beef Battalion Event

The next All American Beef Battalion feed in Colorado will be at Fort Carson at noon on Saturday, August 29th. The group will be feeding 2,500 troops. With that many mouths to feed, Colorado Corn is looking for volunteers to help out. Colorado Corn Marketing and Development Committee Chair Mike Lefever shares more details about this amazing program
Lefever: “John Font and Bill Broaodi is the ones that start this thing. 100 percent — I mean 100 percent of the money goes to purchasing food. They travel around the country on their own dime. And so we are relying 100 percent on donations and volunteers to buy the food and get it served.”|
Lefever says once you volunteer at one of these events you are changed. How so?
Lefever: “Gratification like they’ve never known. The first time I went to do it — I thought it is a long way down there — I’ll do it once. I went down there and I’ve never looked back. These guys are so grateful to us for doing this for them — its just unbelievable but it is us thanking them. But they keep telling us thank you — but we say, “No thank YOU sir thank you for the sacrifice you and your family made for this country. To give us the freedom to do what we want to do in America.”
Anyone interested in helping can contact the Colorado Corn office at (970) 351-8201, or Mike Lefever at engine3mjl@msn.com.
To date, Colorado Corn has given $85,000 to the Beef Battalion -- a volunteer organization that travels the U.S. feeding our nation's troops and their families -- and has helped serve more than 30,000 steak dinners in Colorado.
