Wildfires Across the Region

According to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center of Monday, there were 24 active fires in Washington that were larger than 100 acres, 12 active fires in Oregon and 18 active fires in Idaho. In Washington two of the biggest fires were in Central Washington the Chelan Complex and Cougar Creek. The Cougar Creek as of Monday morning was up to 22,500 acres. The Chelan Complex totaled 56,500 but has several other fires burning in surrounding areas as well.
In Oregon, the Countyline2 fire about 15 miles Northwest Madras burned approximately 55,400 acres and is at 25 percent containment. The Eldorado fire is burning about 40 miles east of John Day and has burned 20,070 acres and is at about 10 percent containment.
In Idaho, the Clearwater Complex has burned 43,2460 and is about 15 percent contained. The Soda Fire in Owyhee County has 283,686 acres and was 70 percent contained. Field reporter Greg Martin shares
According Pacific Northwest significant fire predictive series, the main focus this week will be on burn environment. As a thermal trough builds northward hot,dry and unstable conditions will elevate burning conditions across Western Oregon. In thermal trough moves east of the Cascades Wednesday evening and Thursday windy conditions will develop across much of the eastside particularly in eastern Washington. Fire danger index values and visual inspection show that fuel conditions improve slightly heading south toward SW MT and Central Idaho.”
Fortunately for the state of Colorado there are only five active fires on approximately 663 acres.
