Celebrate Cow Appreciation Day

Celebrate Cow Appreciation Day

Every day is seems to be designated to celebrate something. Well, Tuesday July 14th is a day that all of us in the cattle business can get behind. It’s Cow Appreciation Day. Here is Oregon Cattlemen’s Association’s Kayli Hanley with a tribute to cows.
Hanley: “Ode to the cow. To those who aren’t terribly familiar with the regal bovine, you may question your need to pay tribute. While the fabulous milk, cheeses, and quality beef they produce should be reason enough, these animals provide services beyond the grocery shelves.Next time you pump your brakes, thank cows for helping make your sturdy tires. Next time you’re hurling insults at the pitcher during the “big game,” thank cows for their donation to the mvp of the day, the baseball. Next time you get home from a long, hard day at work and reach for the shampoo in the shower, yes, even there, thank cows for the suds in your hair.Their contributions extend further than byproducts. The animals simple state of being helps contribute to a safer environment. Did you know that lands grazed by cattle are at less risk for wildfire damage?"
So on the 14th of July, take a moment to tip your hat to our four legged bovine friend. If you see one in person, give it a smile or an extra pat on the back. Your day wouldn’t be the same, if it weren’t for the cow.
