It’s a huge phenomenon in agriculture these days… The farmers market blended with millennium’s who want to know exactly where their food is coming from and who is growing it and under what circumstances. This goes way beyond just dashing down to Albertsons in order to pick up some lettuce and milk. It’s almost a philosophy,… A way of life. And I think that’s a good thing so I took some time to visit Boise’s flourishing farmers market last Saturday. “I’ve got wintertime, flat leaf parsley, oregano, sage and large leaf basil.” Cynthia Snow grows herbs and is venturing into local farmers markets in order to sell her beautiful appearing produce. “The name of my business is Petals and Dirt. We started in a greenhouse. This is my first year growing herbs. I started simple with something that I thought I could handle and manage. So this is my learning year. They turned out beautiful. I didn’t use any chemicals. I personally have not been certified organic but the seeds that I purchased our certified organic and I haven’t used any pesticides and they turned out beautifully.” Farmers markets can be found in so many Idaho communities and as the growing season progresses, vendors will have so much more produce to offer.
