Weston Walker is the owner operator of Gold Dust Potato Farms which is the processing arm of Walker Brothers Farms in the Klamath Basin area. He represents the chip-stock sector on the United States Potato Board. Walker shares how he first became acquainted with the USPB
Walker: “The first interaction with the USPB was about 10 years ago when I traveled with the group on trade missions into Asia. I really got to see some of the positive parts it can do for the marketing side. Our company has benefited greatly with the contacts we’ve made through the USPB years ago when we first started exporting chip stock.”
He says that he felt a responsibility to serve
Walker: “What motivated me was the position that the USPB really helped our farm. We export a large portion of our crop now. Without the USPB, I know for certain my company would not be where it is today. And so when this opportunity came in front of me, I felt like I at least owed to the organization to put the input of what I gained, through those years of business that the doors that the USPB opened up. I thought it was giving back and was something I should do.”
Walker adds he is impressed with the potato-friendly salad bar initiative and the opportunity to bring potatoes to generation Z in a creative and nutritious way.
Walker: “I am Weston Walker and I am the USPB.”
