Holiday Meals for Those in Need

Holiday Meals for Those in Need

With November right around the corner, most people will begin to gearing up for the holidays soon. As we all know, this time of year brings additional expenses. Which can make it even more difficult for the one in seven people in America who rely on food banks for help.
Idaho Food Bank Vice President of Development Jennifer Johnson shares how critical donations are this time of year for food banks.
Johnson: “A holiday meal can be very, very expensive for a family on a tight, tight budget. So we are asking for donations of food, holiday turkeys, or cash donations to help support of our Hope for the Holidays Campaign that runs October, November and December. It is to provide holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas as well.”
The Idaho Food Bank partners with Agri Beef, Idaho Beef Council and the Idaho Cattle Association in the Beef Counts Program to ensure that those in need can receive a beef roast. She shares
Johnson: “If someone is interested in giving to Beef Counts they can go to beef counts.org and they can click on the donate button or go to the Idaho Food Bank site and donate through our website at idahofoodbank.org. Donors can either make a cash donation or they can learn how to donate a beef animal through a local auction yard on the Beef Counts website as well.”
