Calf Donate to Sale to Benefit Carlton Complex Fire-Impacted Ranchers

Central Washington’s Yakima County Cattlemen’s Association have stepped up and have donated a calf to be sold next week on Thursday, August 14th at the Toppenish Livestock Market to benefit those ranchers who lost fencing, hay, cattle and or buildings in the Carlton Complex fire.
Yakima County Cattlemen’s Association President Kevin Curnutt shares more
Curnutt: “What we would like to do is to have a roll-over auction. Where anybody can buy that calf again and then roll it over and sell it again and roll it over and sell it again— hopefully as many times as we can to raise money for ranchers in the Carlton Complex fire that need some help with fencing materials and what ever else they need to get their ranches in order and get back to business.”
For those folks interested in donating but who are not able to attend the sale in Toppenish next week. He suggests.
Curnutt: “Probably the best way to contribute is to call the Washington Cattlemen’s Office in Ellensburg at 509-925-9871. They already have some donations there and hopefully we will raise quite a bit more to go with what’s there.”
Estimations of lost fence lines across both private and government land in the Carlton fire may reach as much as 1,000 miles of fence that will need to be replaced.
