Rancher Learning and Network Opportunities

Rancher Learning and Network Opportunities

In the next several weeks there are some excellent learning and network opportunities for Pacific Northwest ranchers around the three states.
Later this week - Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th — at the Central Washington Fairgrounds in Yakima is the WSU Beef Conference. Regardless of your experience or the size of your cattle herd there will be something valuable for you to learn. There are some top notch national speakers as well as many hands on classes to choose from. Go to beef conference.wsu.edu for more information.
Then in several weeks it is the Oregon and Washington Cattlemen’s Joint Mid-Year Meeting. It happens June 26 through the 28th at the Pendleton Convention Center. Washington Cattlemen’s Association Executive Vice President Jack Field shares more about several of the topics being discussed.
Field: “This year we are going to be covering some really important issues. We are going to have a joint meeting on the Sage Grouse. If you look at the Endangered Species Act and the potential listing of the Sage Grouse, it could have dramatic impacts for ranchers in both Oregon and Washington. We’ll have both state and federal officials talking about what is happening in both states and hopefully able to answer some questions on what the future will look like. Then we will have a discussion on one of our favorite topics — wolf management and recovery.”
For Idaho ranchers the ICA’s Summer Round-Up happens in Idaho Falls June 24th through the 25th and promises to be worth a ranchers time to attend with a great slate of strong speakers on topics ranging from ranching for profit, risk management, and grazing. Go to idahocattle.org for additional information.
